LEXI ALEXANDER

Yoga has been a very strong force in how I approach life and the people in it. My first taste of Yoga was during my second semester at Texas A&M University. Quickly, it became more than just a physical activity – it became my excuse to check out of the world I was living in for one hour each day. My mind was blank and I followed the voice of my instructor without questions or worries, focusing on my breath. When I was 22, I was diagnosed with early stages of Epilepsy. Medication was not the answer and if it weren’t for Yoga, I’m sure I would still be lost. It has been over three years without any prescriptions from the neurologist and through my daily practice (never leaving out a headstand), I have been able to keep my seizures at bay. My personal practice has truly transformed who I  am and has allowed for healing, forgiveness, an rebirth. It has taught me to love and appreciate the skin I’m living in. Once I established a practice specifically for my seizures, I felt the calling as a yoga teacher. I received my 200RYT through The Yoga Institute Teacher Training program, led by owner/director Lex Gillan in 2009, in Houston,TX.       http://www.lexialexanderyoga.com/

                       Shelly Jackson

I am a registered Yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance. I received my teaching certificate from Houston Medical Center’s, Institute of Spirituality & Health. My passion for Yoga began in my very first Vinyasa class, where I directly experienced the mind, body, and breath connection that practicing Yoga cultivates. It was my appreciation for my own wellbeing, and the deep respect I developed for Yoga's healing art that turned me from student to teacher in four personally transformational years. As an instructor, my objective is to tune you into the soft signals of your own mind and body through focused awareness to breath and sustained muscle movement. I primarily consider myself a guide inviting you to consciously breathe as you cultivate strength and flexibility, and joyfully unite to your internal body rhythm. I wholeheartedly believe Yoga can be a divine addition to anyone’s life. It does not need to be achieved or attained, just explored and enjoyed.
